About the New Zealand eTA visa
New Zealand's authorities have introduced a new visa waiver system. This system aims to improve the assessment process of travellers before their arrival in New Zealand. It will significantly reduce border clearance waiting times and will ultimately strengthen border security.
Do I need to apply for a New Zealand eTA?
You must apply for a New Zealand eTA visa if you are:
- visiting or in transit from a visa waiver country (see below for more information)
- a cruise ship passenger - regardless of your nationality
- or a permanent resident of Australia (Australian citizens do not need NZ eTA)
How long is a New Zealand eTA visa valid for?
This visa is valid for up to two years. You can enter the country multiple times during the validity period.
